I started our boys choir, the Choraliers, 16 years ago and it continues to be a fun and inspiring group for our young male singers, grades 4, 5, and 6. We usually have about 30 boys but I would love to see as many boys in the Choraliers as there are girls in the Girls Chorus. We learn a variety of songs, from pop to broadway, oldies to folk, multicultural to patriotic. The boys are always a big hit on the stage and I sincerely hope yours will join us. We meet Wednesday mornings from 8:00-8:50am, with concerts in December, February, April and May.
Home Practice: Choraliers: Once mp3 practice recordings and lyrics are loaded onto the website, I am counting on you to make sure your son practices the music so lyrics and parts are confidently learned. Add it to his homework. Each child needs to come to the stage prepared individually if the group is to be successful. Please, please, please champion this responsibility in your home!

THE COMMITMENT YOU MAKE:
Attendance: With only one practice a week, it is really important that your singer attend all rehearsals and that they arrive on time. 3 unexcused absences between concerts will result in the student being pulled from the upcoming performance at the director's discretion. Student may return to rehearsals following a concert with a clean attendance slate. 3 tardies (more than 10 minutes late)=1 absence. Please send a note if your child was sick from school.

ATTENDANCE and PERFORMANCES
Performances: Performances are like fueling stations for our players. They provide a chance to stop where we are at and share our progress with our families. The collective growth often exceeds individual growth, so all kids get to feel the satisfaction of the outcome. The excitement and success of our group efforts is often a great motivator for honoring the work that goes into the journey. It helps to stoke the flames of musical growth. Of course we want the kids to be able to perform, even if they can only access some of the music. But because we grow as a team and learn as a team, we are also counting on each individual to be there with the team in the preparations. Dependability, accountability and follow-through are all part of the lessons we are teaching. Kids who miss excessively don't learn with the team and it is not fair to all of the kids who are working hard, to have other kids come in for the performance and not know their parts because they weren't there for the practice. As such, we reserve the right to remove a student from the concert for excessive absences. We will consider extenuating circumstances individually). This does not mean a child cannot continue to be in the choir.
